THE BAKERY ON MASON

Strawberry Street Plaza has a wonderful aroma about it since The Bakery on Mason opened this spring. This artisanal bakery is the new home of head baker, Louise Orlando. She has been producing incredible breads and pastries for years on the Eastern Shore, as The Baker at Riverside Farm. What delights can you expect from The Bakery on Mason? In their own words, “The Bakery on Mason produces delicious, country-style rustic breads made from simple ingredients: flour, water, and wild (yet friendly) Eastern Shore yeast. Specialty loaves contain a variety of whole grains & seeds, dried fruits, cinnamon, olives, blue cheese, and/or nuts. No added sugars, oils, or artificial flavors or colors are ever used. In our new little bakery you’ll also find baguettes, croissants, muffins, scones, cookies and more! Stop in for a bite (or two, or three…)”

Opened in 2018, owners Cassie and Bobby Patel describe Coastal Baking Co. on their website as “a quaint Bakery Cafe specializing in Sweet Treats, Bread, Sandwiches and Casseroles.” The Patels have a long and impressive history in the restaurant world and share a love of baking and cooking. Their patrons definitely reap the benefits of their talents They’re offering special Virginia cookies filled with local strawberry jam this summer to celebrate the Summer of Love. Make sure to stop by and enjoy one with the people you love!
PEACH STREET BOOKS

Nestled inside an impressive historic renovation of a 1930s Pure Oil Station, Peach Street Books is quite a destination. Visitors will discover gently used and new books for sale among a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. There are books for every taste. And that’s not all. They also serve delicious bagels and Eastern Shore Coastal Roasting Company coffee, smoothies and signature baked goods. And if you’re a dog-lover, you’ll enjoy Peach Street Books’ “dog corner” of thoughtfully selected toys, treats, leashes and collars.
