What do Kailua, Hawaii, Homer, Alaska and Cape Charles, Virginia have in common?
According to Coastal Living magazine, we’re all the prettiest beach towns in our respective states. We can’t personally vouch for Homer, Alaska, but we must agree—Cape Charles is oh-so-pretty.
In their recently published list of ‘The Prettiest Beach Town in Every State,’ Coastal Living features Cape Charles as the belle of the Virginia ball:
“With stately Victorians lining its streets and white-sand beaches fronting the Chesapeake Bay, this charming former railroad hub at the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula is an ideal blend of beach and small-town pleasures. No wonder it was chosen one of America’s Happiest Seaside Towns.”

We at Bay Creek are humbled to be a part of ever-pretty Cape Charles, and happily remind our readers, ‘pretty is as pretty does.’ The beauty of Cape Charles is much more than skin-deep. Our town is a community of neighbors and friends who love welcoming visitors. That’s a big part of our ‘pretty’ — neighbors waving hello on the street, locals sharing the inside scoop (‘You’re looking for ice cream? Let me tell you my favorite place…’), and Cape Charles makers, providers and craftsmen helping folks (local and visitors) feel like part of the family.
So if you have friends or family who have never visited Cape Charles, why not invite them to come see for themselves? As for our latest honor of ‘Prettiest,’ we humbly agree.
