300 Mason Avenue in Cape Charles is about to bloom with coastal beauty and inspiration. This is the site of a new kind of home and lifestyle shop that promises to be like none Cape Charles has ever experienced: Coastal Classics ESVA, launching July 1.
It all began in earnest when Amy Plew, Chief of Staff of Leesa® Sleep, former Partner and COO of the world renown BrandJourney agency—and aficionado of the coastal lifestyle—found herself on the Eastern Shore.
When Amy and her husband, Mike, came to the Shore five years ago, they fell in love with it. They appreciated the easy pace of life, and the free, coastal lifestyle. For a couple who has lived in multiple states and travels the world regularly to settle on Cape Charles is indeed a compliment!
Living in Bay Creek’s Heron Pointe, Amy quickly became invested in the vibrant Cape Charles community. “This is an amazing town. I know my neighbors. I know the shop owners,” says Amy. She saw people moving to Cape Charles, building their dream homes and having to procure furnishings and décor from outside the community. “I thought there was a gap to fill. I wanted to create a place that offered something different, something beautiful,” she remembers.
“We travel all over the world and I love the feel of the European shops. I want Coastal Classics ESVA to have that feeling. To be welcoming, beautiful, peaceful and calming,” Amy explains.
Just as important, Amy wanted Coastal Classics to offer an element of affordable design. She is partnering with Annie Reichhoff, owner of French Twist Urban Design in Virginia Beach to offer design services. As for Coastal Classics itself, it will be a thoughtfully curated collection of décor, furnishings and goods that celebrate the coastal lifestyle with inimitable style.
“Every coast we have visited, whether it’s San Diego, Ireland, Italy… there’s a shared feeling. It’s an ‘easy’ lifestyle. The people there have made the choice to live that sort of life,” Amy says.
She feels a kinship with her fellow Cape Charles merchants, artists and business people, too: “We all want to bring a fresh, new birth to the Shore and to the town. We want to further the services available here.”
We have no doubt Amy and Coastal Classics ESVA will do just that. As for world traveling, you have only to stroll by her incredibly engaging shop at 300 Mason Avenue in Cape Charles to experience a treasure box of inspiring, international coastal style for yourself.
