Bay Creek Resort & Club, News for Winter 2008

Dear Friends,

As winter tries to show some teeth, we are reminded that every season at Bay Creek offers special delights in changes of the foliage, landscaping and roaming animal life.

Remember to check our website periodically for events and activities.

LIFESTYLE SNAPSHOT

We couldn’t resist sharing Theresa Olivetto’s recent comments about life on the Eastern Shore.  Theresa lives in Cape Charles with her family, and she recently joined Bay Creek Resort Realty as a sales agent.  Do her comments sound familiar?

“When I started in business in Cape Charles, I asked the question, ‘what do you tell people who complain that ‘there is nothing here on the Eastern Shore?’  The answer I got, which I never forgot, was people come here for what is not here, not for what is here.  I suppose, that is why I stay here. Living here is so simple and uncomplicated.  This is a wonderful place to raise children, the climate is temperate. Granted, there are no malls here, no big stores, etc., but that is nothing that the Bay Bridge Tunnel can’t solve in a half-hour drive.  Going across the Bay Bridge Tunnel is a great experience, and no matter how many times I go across the bridge, I never get tired of looking at the dolphins, boats, waves and incredible beaches.  Once I get across the bay, every store that I could dream of is there, and I can come home to the peace and tranquility of the Shore.

In the last few weeks, my family and I have enjoyed a Cape Charles Harbor Party, an Oyster Roast in Bay Creek and a Halloween Party at the Arts Enter.  We also went to Cherrystone Campground with a bunch of families for the Halloween trick or treat weekend, it was a blast!!  Here on the shore, we make our own fun, we play volleyball, tennis and kick the can with our kids, we go to the beach, we fish, and we ride jet skis and swim in the bay.  The quality of my life has changed so much since I have ‘come here.’ If you visit Bay Creek and the Eastern Shore, I promise, you will not be disappointed.”

UPDATE ON BAYSIDE VILLAGE

For those who joined us on Bay Creek Day, October 13, the advances made in the largest village of Bay Creek were clear and exciting. And since then, all the roads have received their first coat of paving. The real estate office has booked several reservations on homesites in the Village and the inquiries keep growing.

Construction of themed Carousel Collection of homes in the interior portion of Bayside Village could begin by early Spring. Contact: Terry Paine, 331-8740 (tpaine@baycreek.net).

REAL ESTATE NEWS

We’re very excited about activities at Bay Creek.  2007 brought thousands of new faces to our wonderful community for the first time.  They came by air, sailboat and power cruiser, family wagons, tour buses and motorcades.  Vacations, golf packages, family reunions, business meetings and weddings are coming to Bay Creek, and that means lots of folks are thinking about building or buying in Bay Creek.

Despite a national back drop of a slow real estate market, signs of recovery in our local market are already appearing:

  • 30 year fixed rate mortgages are trending toward a historical low
  • Loan officers report inquiries and loan applications are increasing
  • Available inventory of homes and home sites is normalizing
  • Builder and seller incentives offer great savings on settlement expenses but these will not last forever
  • Sales of Fairways condominiums remain steady
  • Rental bookings for golf packages and vacations continue to look great for 2008
  • Heron Pointe, The Colony and Signature Villages have seen recent home site sales at solid market levels
  • Bayside Village beach front lots have been recorded and are being offered for sale
  • Fun “beach” homes are planned for Bayside Village…look for the Carousel Collection to start up before spring!

Best of all, a few incredible homes and home sites in both the marina and golf villages remain available to the value oriented purchaser. For further information, contact Terry Paine or check it out on the Bay Creek website.

BAY CREEK DAY

Bay Creek Day on October 13th was a fantastic time that will certainly become an annual event.  The beach location in Bayside Village was the perfect venue for an oyster roast, and Mother Nature provided a perfect day and sunset.  The attendees of the sold out event enjoyed a great variety of food and the wonderful music of Mike Proffitt.  Bay Creek Day 2008 is an event you will want to attend. Stay tuned for date and details…

Bay Creek members will enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour thanks to Joe's contacts, and will see many things the average tourist would never be granted access to! Of course, it goes without saying, the food and wine promises to be exceptional, all lending to an experience that won't soon be forgotten. Read the full brochure here.

FRIDAY EVES AT BAY CREEK

During January through June, Thursdays will be a Pre-Friday Celebration with a different activity each Thursday in the Cabana Room.  The activities include Ballroom Dancing, Poker, Cooking Classes, and Guest Speakers.  The response is fantastic for the Friday Eve activities as they provide a great way to meet neighbors and socialize with friends.

Please check the Events Calendar for the specific dates each month on the Bay Creek website.

For February through June, the activities will take place as follows:
• Ballroom Dancing on the first Thursday of each month.
• Poker League on the second Thursday of each month (except in February when the Poker League will take place on Tuesday, February 12 to avoid conflicting with Valentine’s Day.)
•Cooking Classes on the third Thursday of each month – open to the public.
•Guest Speaker on local history and interests on the fourth Thursday of each month – open to the public.

We hope to see you on Friday Eves to kick off the weekends!
